TK Elevator is currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer II in Atlanta, GA.

 

 

This role will design, implement, and analyze mechanical elevator systems and sub systems.  The position will define and evaluate product requirements of the elevator mechanical system by applying standards and understanding the interactions and relationships of the sub systems and components.  The role will conduct compliance, verification, and validation of the elevator mechanical system through engineering analysis, system testing, and engineering documentation.

 

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

 

 

  • Designs, implements, and manages the development and support of mechanical elevator systems and sub-system.
  • Defines requirements and limitations of the functions, features, and parameters of elevator design by using basic programming concepts and syntax in engineering documentation
  • Verifies and validates elevator design by analyzing and documenting the mechanics of the elevator system.
  • Evaluates the interactions of elevator system design and define requirements to sub systems and components.
  • Assists in the development of system test plans and supports system testing only as needed.
  • Understands and applies the A17.1 elevator code, IBC and NBCC building code, internal standards, and other referenced and relevant standards as a basis for elevator system designs
  • Works under general supervision, relies on limited instructions and pre-established guidelines
  • Uses computer-assisted engineering, design software, and/or other required equipment to perform assignments
  • Maintain/develop department owned templates, calculation sheets, and reference documents
  • Submit Engineering Change Orders for end-to-end system change requirements
  • Works with other system or component cross functional engineers (mechanical, electrical, software, testing, and configuration) during product development and product support
  • Works in team environment with other cross functional departments (project managers, field, factory, supply chain management, quality, and product line management) during product development and product support
  • Adheres to all safety procedures and company safety standards while working in the lab and test tower
  • Adheres to the corporate compliance policy and ensures that behavior in the workplace is that of a responsible professional
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned

 

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

 

 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related engineering field
  • 5+ years of design and drafting experience is required in an architectural, structural, or mechanical design environment
  • Demonstrated experience of working in a team environment
  • Demonstrated experience in product development
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering, physics, statics, and dynamics
  • Knowledge of basic electrical engineering is preferred to understand electromechanical interactions
  • Experience studying, interpreting, applying, and complying with codes and standards on engineered products.
  • Must possess strong decision-making abilities
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Experience with 3D CAD tools (Solidworks preferred)
  • Experience with 2D design tools (AutoCAD/DraftSight preferred)
  • Experience in interpreting and understanding  engineering drawings and diagrams
  • Must understand and be able to author basic programming logic and syntax
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Must be able to work with limited instruction from manager/team leaders to meet project deadlines
  • Elevator codes/regulations of product components, preferred 
  • 2+ years of elevator design experience, preferred
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and traction elevators, preferred
